This is a quote from Othello by William Shakespeare and it describes his and Desdemona’s first meeting with Brabantio. Brabantio’s demands for Odysseus to bring his son back right away seem quite harsh and demanding, yet as we continue reading we learn that this is how he feels deep down inside.
